Discussion: Together We Stand...Divided it Takes Longer

(Please see Poetry Section... Thank you!)

February 12, 2021

We are a year into the coronavirus epidemic. With the death toll rising daily, and not only in our country, many have protested and held firm in their belief and behavior that this is a hoax. Just like we have freewill of thought, we can’t tell others what to think. I have watched as some protest that their rights are being taken away from them. Given a mandate by the Governor of their State to wear a mask in public has become harmful and deadly to some. Bus drivers and others have been killed or badly assaulted by individuals refusing to obey the law mandated by their State.

Even if a hoax. Even if the death toll is still rising. Even if there are no hospital beds for non-COVID-19 emergencies in some hospitals, why can’t we work together in the small window of time together? Even if you feel your rights are being infringed upon. Even when asked not to gather over a certain number for a while, why can’t we… just do that! What is it in us that says even if I do believe the hype, I will do it for you? I will do it for my children, my parents, my grandparents, just because!

Are we so self-centered that if I don’t see how it benefits me, I just won’t do it? Let’s do our part to make sure if I don’t see how it benefits me, I’ll just do it, anyway. I can’t miss my birthday celebration this year. No, I won’t miss celebrating my anniversary because this is a milestone. I will not miss this… because.

I want to honor those who work, yet take all the precautions when returning home to their love ones. To ones who leave home every day tired from yesterday, but keep going… Thank you!

There are selfless people who put their life on the line for us, and most of the time a majority of those around they don’t even realize the service that they do. Thank you!

If you look at the evidence as false, can we come together for the person we just passed in the grocery store and mall?

Thank you for joining me for Friday at Sundown. Remember… Just Breathe!
