Purpose: The Beginning of Friday at Sundown

It’s always good to revisit the purpose of why we do something. I want to revisit my first article about why I started this blog on May 1, 2020.
“The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He awakens me morning by morning; He awakens my ear to hear as the learned,” Isaiah 50:4.
Every day is one of uncertainties. In twenty-four hours, a phone call can fill your being with joy or sorrow. We drag ourselves out of bed where we’ve been haunted by nightmares of the past and anxieties of the future. Yet, by the end of the day, we can return to that same bed with so much unexpected and indescribable joy that it leaves us speechless. These uncertainties are a part of life and will be with us until the end of time.
To what degree we walk through life, depends only on us. For this reason, our walk cannot be a life of blaming or who did it. If so, then we have to give place to our abusers of who they blamed and who did it to them. Even though individuals have contributed to the direction of our life, good or bad, however it is ourselves who have the choice of whether to continue in a particular direction.
I’m not making light of abuses of the past or that maybe persist to this very day. I am speaking of the impact still locked within us, holding us hostage in yesterday. I refer to the past that has stolen our true identity by locking us in the prison of “What if’s”. Where the yesteryear stands as a prison guard to make sure we serve out the sentence of depression and regrets. As a result, the closure of our life journey was someone we were never to be.
Friday at Sundown will be a time to unwind from the week. It will be a time to refresh the soul, stir the spirit and relax our body from the business and cares of the week. It is inevitably a time… to just breathe. I will share my writings and thoughts; with the hope you will feel revitalized. There will be times of discussions to encourage our true identity to take its place, if we are not already there. My goal is also to challenge you to decide and be relentless in your endeavors. Our time together will be a place where hearts can start mending and scars can truly heal. I look forward to you joining me on Friday at Sundown each week… and Just Breathe!
